Allen Heerema - '69

The recipient of 2001's Distinguished Alumni Award, Allen Heerema was a graduate of the class of 1969 and a retired partner of TCD Services, a disposal company he owned with two other Timothy graduates.  But retirement has not meant a rocking chair existence.  Since his decision to retire, he has found many new ways to serve God.  Among those ways are his involvement with Humboldt Community Christian Schools, where he volunteered his time in fundraising work, his work with the Summer Serve teams drawing hundreds of Christian young people to the Chicago area each summer for service projects in the city, and as President of the Board of “All God’s Children” orphanage in Honduras, where he and his wife and a number of Timothy friends volunteer their time each year.

In each of these activities Al gives testimony to God’s grace in his life, surprising him again and again with opportunities for witness and service as Al has listened for God’s leading.

Al is married to Gert Post, class of 1970.  They are the parents of Traci Heerema Hoogendoorn, Eric, Kelly, and one of 2001’s graduates, Jamie.

While at Timothy, Al was in the chorus, played basketball, and ran cross country and track.  He also, by his own account, had many conversations throughout his high school days with Principal Arnie Hoving.
