Ms. Amy DeWit

Personal Profile
I grew up in South Dakota but moved to the Naperville when I was in eighth grade. I started attending Timothy at that time and graduated in 2000. I moved back to the area last year and have enjoyed being near my family again. I love to travel both around the US and overseas. I also enjoy sports, books, and music.
Professional Profile
After graduating from Timothy, I attended Calvin College where earned my B.A. in special education and elementary education. My first teaching job was in Uganda. I spent three years teaching American missionary children in a small mission school and teaching the local children in a government school. This is my second year at Timothy where I am working as the academic support teacher. I am currently working towards my M.A. degree at National-Louis University.
Philosophical Profile
One of things I love about teaching is the opportunity to learn with my students. While teaching them, discussing with them, and reading their writings, I am constantly learning more about the world and our place in it as Christians. It is as I learn with my students that I help equip them to be academically prepared disciples. I believe it is important to equip all children to be disciples, regardless of their intellectual abilities. When students enjoy the learning process and feel successful in it, they will be motivated to continue learning both inside and outside the classroom. As life-long learners they will be better able to serve God and enjoy Him forever.
