Personal Profile
If I had to choose one word to describe my life at this moment, it would be transition. Last May I made the transition from full time college student to full time working adult when I graduated from Hope College in Holland, Michigan. I made another big life transition on July 18 when I married my husband, Jeff DenBraber. After a great honeymoon week on Sanibel Island, Jeff and I packed up and made another big transition, leaving Grand Rapids, Michigan to start our married lives in Oak Park, Illinois. Now, we make the final transition as Jeff begins law school at Loyola and I begin my teaching career as a fifth grade teacher here at Timothy Christian. Wow, it has been an exciting couple of months! While Jeff and I are still adjusting to these transitions, especially the fact that we both miss our families, we are also filled with great anticipation. I look forward to getting to know my students. I look forward to sharing my love of our savior with them, and I look forward to encouraging them to discover the gifts God has given them as we strive to learn and grow together. I consider it an honor and a joy to be a part of this community which has shown me love and acceptance as one of the new members of the staff.
Professional Profile
I graduated from Hope College with Suma Cum Laude honors and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa honors fraternity. At Hope, I received a degree in Language Arts and had an Elementary Education emphasis. I also participated in many educational committees, including ASCD and CEC. Both of these committees assist other Education students in becoming more effective teachers.
Philosophical Profile
I love learning along side my students, designing creative lesson plans, and watching my students grow and develop as unique children of God. I feel that God has called me to this profession because of the way he blesses my decision every day. Each time I walk down the hall and through my classroom door, my heart leaps with anticipation and joy. I look forward to many years of “leaps” and joy as I serve God at Timothy Christian!
