February 25-28, 2010 - Orchestra Trip to Taylor University
On Thursday, February 25 the Timothy Orchestra packed up their strings and bows and headed by bus to Taylor University in Upland Indiana for Timothy's first ever orchestra trip. Friday morning the orchestra woke up bright and early for a tour of the campus and a clinic with the Taylor University Symphonic Orchestra director. The director worked with the students on their pieces, and gave helpful suggestions. After a short break, the students joined the university’s Symphonic Orchestra students for an exciting time of playing together where they worked on Beethoven’s 6th Symphony. Sunday morning found the TC Orchestra at Upland Community Church where they provided the prelude, offertory and support on the congregational hymns.
Other memorable times included attending a film festival of films made by Taylor students (with awards given at the end for different categories), doing devotions together, sharing and praying together as a group on Saturday night, playing games, eating at Cracker Barrel and the Dining Commons, getting to know Mr. Woudstra better and meeting college kids who made time to get to know the Timothy students. It was a weekend filled with new experiences, laughter, and focus. Many of the students say that the trip brought them all much closer together, and they now consider themselves a “family”. The Timothy Orchestra is under the direction of Ms. Gail Salvatori.
