Mrs. Alicia Dyke

Personal Profile

I am overjoyed to begin to my teaching career at Timothy Christian School.  Once a rival of Timothy Christian, attending Southwest Chicago Christian and Chicago Christian High School, I am grateful to have personally known the value of Christian education while growing up.  This past summer was a very busy one for me as I not only prepared for this school year, but also began planning a wedding!  I currently live in Alsip, Illinois, with three close friends that I met at college, but I look forward to having my own home with my fiancĂ© Tim after we get married on July 12, 2008.

Professional Profile

I graduated from Trinity Christian College this past May with degrees in both elementary education and special education. During my time at Trinity, I spent much of my time serving as a member of the Council for Exceptional Children, leading Sign Language Club, tutoring, and working in the campus bookstore. During my last semester at Trinity, I was able to spend seven weeks student teaching at Timothy Christian with Julie Louwerse and a wonderful bunch of fifth graders. What an absolute blessing that experience turned out to be. I could not have asked for more in a cooperating teacher, school staff, and student body. During my time student teaching, I was able to clearly see God's hand at work in this school through my daily interactions with the supportive teachers and involved parents. After seven weeks of being a part of this Christ-centered community, I am so excited to begin my work here as the 6th grade language arts teacher, doing my absolute best to model Christ in my daily thoughts, words, and actions.

Philosophical Profile

I feel so blessed to share both the responsibility and the privilege with parents in educating God’s children.  My goal as a teacher is to help every child learn of God’s love for them, develop their full physical, mental, and social potential, and become a Christ-like servant in their homes, communities, and world at large.  By example, I also hope to show them what it is to allow Christ to shine through all that they do and say each day.

I am eager to begin work with our theme this year.  “This is my Father’s World” is both a familiar song and phrase to many students at Timothy Christian, but I hope to make the theme come alive in the lives of my 6th graders.  Not only do I want students to see how important it is to take care of the world around them, but also to care for the people around them.

“Let my teaching fall like rain and my words descend like dew, like showers on new grass, like abundant rain on tender plants.  I will proclaim the name of the LORD. Oh, praise the greatness of our God!”  Deuteronomy 32:2-3
