Library and Media Center Summary

“I loved the book you gave me last week!  I want another one just like it!”  Those are the most satisfying words that a librarian can hear.    Through a welcoming atmosphere and a collection of about 17,000 books, the Library Media Center is a place where students can discover and develop a life-long love for reading and the wonders of God’s world.

The library skills curriculum emphasizes both literature and learning to use the library independently.  Research assignments at each grade level provide opportunities for students practice their library skills.  We use the Accelerated Reader program and the Rebecca Caudill Young Readers Book Award as incentives for students to read more and to read more widely.

Colossians 2:8

See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ.

So as we teach, we also strive to model and teach discernment about ideas and literature choices, comparing ideas we may read to Scriptural truth.
