Long Time Timothy Teacher Miss Kingma Passes Away
Timothy Christian Schools is saddened to announce the passing of long time teacher Henrietta T. Kingma of DeMotte Indiana. Miss Kingma passed away on June 10, 2010. She was 83 yrs old.
On March 27, 1927, Henrietta was born to Gerben and Teenie (nee: Fase) Kingma in DeMotte, Indiana. She was the only daughter among four brothers. Henrietta graduated from DeMotte schools and Calvin College with a BA in Math and Education. She later went on to earn two master’s degrees from DePaul and New York Universities. She was employed at Timothy Christian Schools for almost 40 yrs and while there she was a math teacher, basketball coach, counselor, assistant principal, principal, class sponsor and more. Recently she was a member of the First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte. She was a member of the Ruth Circle and enjoyed working at the school library at Covenant Christian High School.
Henrietta is survived by: two brothers: Dr. Roy (Sonya) Kingma and Harold (Eleanor) Kingma, Two Sister-in-laws: Ann Kingma and Betty Kingma.
Friends are invited to visit with the family on Monday, June 14, 2010 from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the First Christian Reformed Church of DeMotte located at 1633 Hallect St. DeMotte, IN. 46310. Services will be held at 11:00a.m. on June 14,2010 at the church, with Pastor Laryn Zoerhof officiating, with internment in the Holland cemetery. A graveside ceremony will take place after the service and then a late lunch will be served.
